CAMERATA SERBICA was founded in 2004, as an ensemble of the most prominent soloists, professors and assistant professors from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. The orchestra consists of 45 permanent members. Depending on the concert’s program, the best postgraduate students or musicians from other orchestra sometimes join the ensemble. Deciding criteria for inviting a musician to join Camerata Serbica is their successful soloist career. One of the leading principles, regarding the choice of the concerts, is the exclusivity. This is accomplished by performing with the most prominent instrumental and vocal soloists and world class conductors, but also by promoting Serbian composers and musicians. The United Nations in Serbia (Serbia and Montenegro then) have recognized the highest artistic quality of the orchestra Camerata Serbica. Therefore, the United Nations were the patrons of ensemble’s 2005/2006 season and Camerata Serbica was appointed the promoter of the United Nations’s Millenium Goals in order to present human values in the most beautiful way – through the language of music.
Camerata Serbica performed at many prestigious festivals in Serbia and abroad: Belgrade Music Festival – BEMUS, Budva City Theater, Novi Sad Music Festival – NOMUS, Varazdin Baroque Evenings, Festival Maribor, Guitar Art Festival, Nis Music Festival – NIMUS, Cello Fest, Harp Fest… The orchestra also performed in the most prestigious concert halls: Berlin Philharmonics Hall, Sava Center, Kolarac Hall, Union Hall in Maribor, Minoriten Saal in Graz, Budva’s Citadel, Sinagogue in Novi Sad. All performances of Camerata Serbica received excellent critiques, many were rated as events of the year, recorded and broadcasted at the National Television RTS.
Some of the most eminent artists in the world today performed with Camerata Serbica: Luciano Pavarotti, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Emmanuel Pahud, Andrea Bocelli, Marjana Lipovšek, Richard Tognetti, Giovanni Sollima, Simon Trpčeski, STING, Wilfried Strehle, Rainer Honek, Lorenz Nasturica, Terem quartett, as well as the most important Serbian musicians: Aleksandar Serdar, Sandra Belić, Vesna Stanković, Maja Špengler, Ljubiša Jovanović, Nataša Veljković..... Excellent conductors led this ensemble: Ion Marin, Leone Maggiera, Aleksandar Pavlović, Vladimir Kranjčević, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Bojan Suđić, Marcelo Rotta, Biljana Radovanović.
On the occasion of “FoM 70 years celebration” Camerata Serbica issued a non commercial CD release including works of Bach, Mahler and Erić with soloists Emmanuel Pahud, Marjana Lipovšek, Ljubiša Jovanović, Vesna Stanković and conductors Vladimir Kranjčević and Bojan Suđić.
